Do Homeschoolers do tests? Q&A with Aislyn and Iraina

Recording this was actually quite funny because it completely exposed to the three of us how easy it is to get side tracked and also to be careful not to bad mouth school going children. That’s not what we’re here to do.

We have awesome friends that go to school and just like we choose to homeschool, they choose to go to school – none is better than the other. We’re here to create more awareness and understanding around it and how “we” do things. Everyone is completely different.

I really hope you enjoy the video and like we’ve said, if you have any more questions or topics you’d like to get more info on about what this side of school is like, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I'm a woman finding my way through life as the wife of Tim, the mom to 3 growing kids and trying to maintain some sort of self through it all. I hope you enjoy reading how I journey with my troops through this thing we call life.

  1. Loved this. So cute! Just a point on why we test( I’m an educator so..) we generally have two types of tests: formative and summative. Formative tests are to inform teacher as you said. Summative are to inform government/ educational bodies etc, as to where your child falls on the national scale. Some summative tests measure on the international scale such as PISA/ PET/ KET. This is used to form educational policy, standards, etc.

    1. Thank you so much for engaging this way. It’s great to know exactly how and why things are done, as so many things can be assumed. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for reading and sharing such valuable information.

      1. You’re welcome. I’m a homeschooled myself so your POV is helpful. I’m in the UAE at the mo and am torn between enrolling girl spawn in a private school in SA or continuing with the homeschooling. I look forward to further vids.

      2. That is so awesome that you’ve got both points of view. It is rare but wonderful to have connected with you via the inter web. Please suggest any view points that we could possibly chat about in future. Hope you come right with your schooling decision. Go with your gut I say 😊

      3. Agreed. I’m surprised at the commonalities between bloggers… Areas you’d never think would find mutual ground. I’d like to ask if you could cover the curriculum in homeschooling. Which one are you using? Perhaps do a compare and contrast between the US, UK and SA homeschooling curriculum?
