Hello again!! I know it’s been like, for-ages since I’ve been on this lovely little window into our lives. All I can say is that since I was wrote about how I was feeling, it’s been a ridiculous journey leading up to me actually sitting here and writing something down. I was finally able to identify why I was feeling the way I was feeling, Continue reading “Feder Catch Up – it’s been a while”
I know it’s like February already – but I really need to tell you about what happened a few months ago with Iraina. It was one of those “days” or should I say “moments” that really taught us both a sweet lesson.
Ok, before I go into it though – I think I should explain something. With the whole change in the ways that we discipline our kids in South Africa, I have been reading up a storm. Basically, about how I can do it without physically touching my kids. So one of the ways I have learned how to do this, is to help our kids make their own choices and then leave them to deal with the consequences of their decisions. Continue reading “Choices & Consequences – My 8 year old’s hard lesson learned”
I haven’t really ever written about our Christmas celebrations and what we do. But while the season is still sitting in the foreground of all of our memories, I might as well log it and share a few simple traditions we always do on Christmas Day. Continue reading “Christmas 2017”
Iraina turned 8 and I feel like smacking myself across the head because I didn’t even make any effort to document her celebration. Guys! This is when I often feel the most “mommy guilt” when it comes to this beautiful child of ours. She is absolutely amazing and yet, because of when her birthday falls – it has often become our “just get it over and done with” part of the year. Continue reading “Iraina’s Arts and Craft Party”
Today our beautiful Iraina turns 8! Ok, give me a sec – I just have to pull myself together as I realise that my second born is 8 whole years old!! what is happening? Time is flying way too fast. Anyway, as promised a few months ago on Aislyn’s birthday – I am going to take the time to type out my daughter’s birth story. It’s drama free and not as long as Aislyn’s but it’s an absolute miracle how it all unfolded. It’s the kind of birth story that sounds a little too easy. Enjoy reading as I walk down memory lane and celebrate our beautiful Iraina. Continue reading “Happy 8th Birthday – Iraina’s birth story”
Tim gets back tomorrow – woohoo!!! Let’s just say that every part of me is super happy to have his ‘person’ back with us. Continue reading “The Day Before He Left”
Just so you know, I’ve been wrestling between whether or not I should share these conversations with the World Wide Web. “Conversations” being with my two girls. Eventually Jude will join in but for now it’s just the two of them. Continue reading “The “Talk” with my kids : ‘The Naked Hug’”
To start off today, let me just say to you parents that wake up early and get your troops ready for the day, in order to get to school on time – I have a greater respect for what you do. I had my first stint of it today and I almost failed, and we didn’t even have to drive through traffic – we walked from a house on the school property! How you all get it right everyday, I can not even begin to imagine.
Anyway, enough about that – let’s get into some good old junior school memories shall we. Continue reading “Our Zimbabwe Trip – Day 5 – The Girls first day at the school”
This past weekend has been one of the most emotional roller coasters I’ve been on in a very long time. And what was even more taxing was that none of the emotion had to do with my insecurities or my “girlie” issues.
My kid got sick and it scared me. Continue reading “How our Scary moment turned Gold”
So how did it go? I hear you ask. I know I had a fat rant at the beginning of the week about the girls and what to do with their discipline and stuff. Well, I sat them down on Monday night and just plainly explained that I was completely done with making reward charts, motivating with sweets, stars and money. Continue reading “Friday Feedback for the week”
